Advanced Solutions for Clean Air

ME2C Environmental is pioneering eco-driven innovation with our SEA® Technology, designed to tackle mercury emissions effectively. We’re committed to leaving a lasting, positive impact on the environment.

Did you know?

Mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants account for about 44% of all manmade mercury emissions in the United States

ME2C Environmental's patented technologies have helped reduce mercury emissions from coal-fired utilities by over 90%, ensuring cleaner air and a healthier environment

Mercury can travel vast distances in the atmosphere before settling in soil or water, potentially affecting environments far from the original emission source.

Global Recognition and Industry Impact

The SEA® technology has been globally recognized as the "Best Available Capture Technology" (BACT) since the early 2000s. This recognition followed comprehensive industry-wide testing and demonstrations in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) during the technology’s early development stages. Currently, approximately 40% of the U.S. coal-fired fleet utilizes our technologies for mercury emissions capture, underscoring our impact on the industry.

What is the primary focus of ME2C Environmental?

ME2C Environmental’s primary focus is reducing mercury emissions in coal-fired power plants through its patented & proprietary, cost-effective sorbent enhancement additive technology, SEA®. Our patented process ensures the quality of coal ash, a by product of mercury emissions, which can be recycled for use in important industrial applications such as cement and building materials.

What are the environmental benefits of using ME2C’s SEA® Technology?

The environmental benefits include significantly reducing mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants, which is crucial in meeting regulatory standards and protecting public health and the environment. Our patented process optimizes plant efficiencies, requires less material, and ensures that overall end products are used efficiently. The resulting coal ash is recycled instead of disposed of in ash piles, reducing the environmental impact.

What makes ME2C’s solution unique compared to traditional mercury control methods?

ME2C’s solution is unique because it not only improves the efficiency of mercury capture but also reduces the amount of activated carbon required. Our proprietary blend of activated carbon (AC), bromine, and other ingredients ensures optimal efficiency and less material usage, resulting in lower operational costs, less carbon waste, and reduced corrosion. Additionally, ME2C is not just a product distributor – we are a full-service environmental tech firm that tunes our sorbents to meet specific plant configurations for optimal results.

Why is it important to control mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants?

Controlling mercury emissions is essential because mercury is a toxic pollutant with severe health impacts, including neurological damage. The EPA’s federal MATS mandate, introduced in 2016, requires power plants to capture a certain percentage of contaminants emitted to the air. ME2C ensures that power plants capture over 85% of mercury emissions and recycle the by product, coal ash, for industrial use, minimizing contamination in soil and ash ponds.
